How the weekly AI image contest works
Every week we pick one theme and open it to everyone using the AI image generator. There is no entry form, no keyword to remember and no separate fee: generate an image, publish it to Explore, and it is already in the running. An entry costs exactly what any other generation costs — one credit for one image — and new accounts start with free credits, so a first entry can cost nothing at all.
The theme is a prompt, not a rule. The button above opens the generator with this week’s theme already in the prompt box, and the rest of the sentence is yours; you can ignore it entirely and still compete. Prompts that name a subject, the light and the framing tend to beat long lists of comma-separated keywords, and the style and aspect ratio you choose are sent along with the text: a square reads better in a grid, a wide frame gives a scene room to breathe.
Ranking is by rating, not by a show of hands. Anyone with an account can give any public image one to five stars, leave a comment saying what works and what does not, and add a few tags describing what is in it. One account gives one rating per image, you can change or remove it at any time, and you cannot rate your own work. Because the order is an average rather than a total, an image published late in the week is not out of the running.
Nothing has to be unlocked. An image joins the ranking the moment someone rates it, and the order is the average score rather than a total, so a picture published on the last day of the window is not out of the running. Ties are broken by how many ratings an image collected: between two images sitting at the same average, the more widely rated one comes first.
Ratings live on the image, not only on this page. Every public image has its own page carrying the prompt, the model, the size, the date and now the ratings and comments readers left on it, so the feedback stays useful long after the week closes. Private images never take part: the contest only reads images their owner chose to make public, and switching an image back to private removes it from the ranking.
Contest questions, answered
- Does entering the contest cost extra?
- No. An entry is an ordinary generation, so it costs the same one credit any image costs and nothing on top. Welcome credits, the daily credit and credits you bought all work the same way here.
- How do I enter?
- Publish an image to Explore this week — that is the whole entry. There is no keyword to include and no form to fill in. If your image is not in the ranking, the usual reasons are that it is still private or that it has not collected enough ratings yet.
- Who can rate, and can I change my mind?
- Anyone signed in can rate any public image from one to five stars, and you can edit or remove your rating whenever you like. You cannot rate your own image, and visitors who are not signed in see a sign-in link instead of the form.
- How is the order decided?
- By the average rating of the last 7 days, highest first. When two images share the same average, the one with more ratings comes first. There is no minimum: a single rating already places an image on the board.
- Does the ranking reset?
- It never resets on a fixed day; it moves. The board always covers the last 7 days, so an image leaves it once it is older than a week and the order shifts as new ratings arrive. Nothing is deleted: past entries stay on Explore with their prompt, their own page and every rating and comment they collected.
